My name is Irene B. Porter I'm a Christain,a wife, mother, Grand mother and, a Great Grand Mother. I'm also a singer, songwriter, poet and am writing a book the title is "My Life and Gifts. I have been singing ever since I can remember, every one in our family can carry a tune. I discovered the gift of songwriting after I had a fall in 1986. I received trauma to most all parts of my body including a concussion. I was in so much agony physically and mentally, I felt like giving up. I couldn't find comfort no matter how I positioned my body. For a long time I would rest on the recliner. I was a christain since I was a child, but my faith was weak at the time after the injury. As I began to have these thoughts of doubt and self pity I began to go into a deep depression. Each time I began to sink I was given a song to encourage me and lift my spirit. The first one was about how I had been taking things for granted.I was also reminded that I had been hard headed and stubborn and being disobedient to God. The message in that song was, I didn't own anything not even the air I breathed. It was all just a loan from God. I decided to call that song "Thanks for the Loan" The next song message was about no matter what I was going through, I could take it to Jesus and he would fix it. I called that song "Take it to Jesus" It seemed no matter what I was worried about I would receive songs to encourage me and lift my spirits. I have produced two albums the first called "Thanks for the Loan"it has seven songs. The second one I titled "Have Mercy on the Children",it has nine songs. That song came to me when I was burdened about all the things that were happening to the children. I cannot read music and I knew nothing about the music business or what God wanted me to do.God has been guiding and directing me so far and I trust him to continue. Good things can come out of bad situations. The style of my music is Gospel but they are about life issues.
