Uncle Cliff entered the service Oct. 28,1941. He went to Ft. Thomas Ky. Was assinged to Ft. Wheeler. Ga.Oct. 30th. On Feb. 5th. 1942 he was assigned to Ft. Dix N,J. He arrived in North Ireland May 10 1942. This is a newspaper clipping from 1942 that was published in the Piqua Dail y Call. Piqua, Ohio PVT. CLIFFORD CRAMER WITH A.E. F. IN IRELAND SENDS INTERESTING LETTER TO HIS MOTHER , MRE. LEE CRAMER Private Clifford L. Cramer, a member of the American Expeditionary Forces now in Northern Ireland has written a most interestion letter to his mother tellin her of the country and people of ththat land. Wuoting from his letter of May 14 which was received here just a few days ago; "We traveled in a large convoy on a large and fast ship and she took to some rough weather kindly, Only a few were seasick and I was one of the lucky we had a few scares and a little eexxcitement n the way over. "We landed in Northern Ireland and I was inpressed most by the scenery, the weather and the time. Itls no wonder they call this the Emerald Isle, The trees and shrubs stay green the year round and foliage is from the deepest shade of green to the lightest. " This is the cleanest place I have ever seen. Even here in the country.
I will add more later. His neice Linda Stout I have a hole bood on him With His letters that he sent home. He was in Africia and Sicily He was awarded the purple heart but don't know what has happen to it.
