My Dad was stationed in Pueblo Colo. My Mom went to see him when she was pregnant with me--She sat on her siutcase all the way on the train. When she got there- she met Dad and then the brass closed the base to all visitors. Mom saw Dad only briefly, after all that way.Dad came home to see me when I was 2 days old and then shipped out again. We did not see him for 2-1/2 years. My Mom and my aunts are my heroes because they withstood the hardships of husbands being gone for such long tours and they NEVER COMPLAINED. My Dad had many stories of England and the brave people. He talked of riding English bikes to collect eggs from farmers and how he fell off the bike but never broke the eggs!!!He also talked of the planes that took off and never returned or returned with badly injured crew members. He was with Hap Arnold and the 8th Air Force I wiss he had lived to see all the honor paid to his generation--he would have been thrilled and proud as am I. I am so glad we war babies are getting recognition too.Thankyou.
