Cooking School for Kids is Recipe for Success
Success is sweet for Tessy Santos-Medley, owner of Classy Kids Cook, a new Children's Cooking School and Etiquette Training Center, located in Raleigh, North Carolina "We are so very excited
"We are so very excited to be one of the few cooking schools in the United States to offer children and teens this high-level culinary program. The glowing comments and responses from parents and the kids to our camps & classes has been overwhelming." stated Tessy. She and her staff of four other culinary instructors expertly train students from the basics of just boiling water up through mastering more difficult and delectable kitchen creations.
Cooking Up Fun
Classy Kids Cook is a life skills training center that specializes in cooking classes and etiquette training designed specifically for children and teens. They offer after-school programs, week-long track out camps, cooking birthday parties, parent child classes, adult classes and corporate team building events.
"One of our signature events, and one the kids love the best, is our Iron Chef Competition. Conducted just like they do on the Food Network, the kids have just one hour to create at least four dishes after the ‘secret' ingredient has been revealed. We ask the parents to arrive early to judge the Iron Chef teams. The dishes are judged on creativity with the secret ingredient, presentation of the dish and, of course, taste. In the end, all the culinary teams receive trophies or ribbons." shared Tessy. "We have great fun as we all are racing against the clock and everyone is scrambling to finish up and get the dishes plated."
A Recipe for Success
Since their preliminary opening of the new location in July, their week-long culinary camps have been jammed packed with students to over flowing capacity. Not only have students come from all over the Triangle, but they've been blessed with students from around the globe attending camps. Recently, they had a 16 year old boy from Greece, a 12 year old boy from China and a 7 year old girl from Scotland find us on the web and attend their Basic Fundamentals series.
Background
For over a decade, Tessy has worked with children through her church's ministry and mission programs. Her desire to see children succeed and to achieve their potential has always been driven by her faith and belief that they should be shown how valuable they truly are.
After having worked in the high powered, high stress corporate financial world in New York, New Hampshire and North Carolina for over 16 years, she decided to move in a different direction and follow her passion. So, two years ago, she started training children in etiquette and cooking out of her home in Garner and officially launched the Classy Kids Cook concept - a place where kids would be motivated, encouraged and have fun at the same time while learning important life skills.
