Holiday Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients
1 quart water
3 cups sugar
12 whole cloves
1 (4-inch) cinnamon stick
6 whole allspice berries
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Rind of 1 orange
Rind of 1 lemon
2 cups orange juice
1 cup lemon juice
3 1/3 cups Burgundy wine

Instructions
Combine the water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, and orange and lemon rinds in a large pot. Bring to a boil, and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat, and strain out the spices and rinds. Set aside for 1 hour. Place back into the pot, and add the orange juice, lemon juice, and wine. Heat gently, but do not boil. Serve warm.

Yield: 2 and 1/2 quarts
