Onion Casserole (TX) Recipe

Ingredients
4 to 5 large onions, sliced
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup bread crumbs

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish. Heat the butter, and sauté the onions until slightly brown. Season with the salt and pepper. Spoon into the prepared dish. Cover with the bread crumbs and top with the cheese. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, until the bread crumbs begin to brown.

Yield: 6 to 8 small servings

This side dish is excellent when paired with meats and pastas. It also works well as a topping for hamburgers or bratwurst.
