The iconic cartoon cat and mouse are up to their classic around-the-house antics in this roundup of 14 vintage theatrical shorts from the 1940s and '50s, including two ("Mouse Trouble" and "Quiet Please!") that won Academy Awards. Oh sure, some folks will find reasons to tsk-tsk at the maliciously merry mayhem, silly-willy slapstick violence and strange, love-hate dynamic that drives every hyper rip through the living room. Everyone else will just see a mouse with a skillet, and a tomcat whose head ends up looking like a frying pan. C'mon, admit it—that's funny!

In the meantime, enjoy the generous extra features, including documentaries, bloopers, spoofs, deleted scenes and an in-depth, on-location tour of the show's Hawaii set.

Here With Me
CD ($9.98)
The legacy of the great Hank Williams continues through the music of his granddaughter, 28, whose second album marks her full bloom as both a writer and performer. Country without a hint of corn, it's a solid mix of soulful confessions, sensual daydreams, personal reflections and raw self-portraits that reveal a young songbird spreading her wings and finding her own flight path. Highlights include the autobiographical "Mama," which provides an intriguing glimpse into her mother Becky's brief marriage to Hank Jr., the intoxicating "Three Days in Bed" and "Keep the Change," a jaunty anthem to letting go and moving on.

Military buffs will salute this exhaustive 30-hour, 14-DVD mega-set of History Channel documentaries about American involvement on battlefields from Boston to Baghdad. Historians, military experts, veterans and war correspondents add their voices to rare film footage and archival photos, providing insight and new angles on key moments of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and World Wars I and II, as well as the conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf and Iraq. Though the technology of warfare has changed, from bayonets to "smart bombs," one thing hasn't: our country's readiness to take up arms when duty calls.

DVD (Blu-ray $39.98)
Eye-popping stop-motion animation makes this deliciously creepy, family-friendly fable (based on the popular book by Neil Gaiman) a real treat, with surprising visual delights popping up at every turn. As precocious 11-year-old Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning) explores a portal to an "opposites" world that seems too good to be true, she discovers the downside to getting what you wish for. Extras include a making-of documentary, interviews with Fanning and other stars behind the characters, deleted scenes and a digital copy for downloading.

A bonus documentary spotlights jazz composer Vince Guaraldi, whose memorable, mood-setting soundtrack music became a signature of the humorous and heartwarming TV tales.

Steve Martin makes his second appearance as inept French police inspector Jacques Clouseau in this comedic caper involving—once again—the theft of a valuable diamond that reflects a pinkish light in the shape of a panther. Kids will love the slapstick and parade of bumbles, tumbles and fumbles built atop the legacy of the late, great Peter Sellers, who originated the Clouseau role back in 1963. Grownups will appreciate the bloopers and gags, a spotlight on the movie's international cast and a bonus disc of 27 Pink Panther cartoons from the 1960s and '70s, sure to bring back Saturday-morning memories.

Based on the true story of the first all-black regiment to bear arms in the American Civil War, this rousing historical drama from 1989 starred Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington. Newly released on Blu-ray, it gets a Yankee-doodle-dandy 20th anniversary treatment with bonus features that include deleted scenes, commentary by director Ed Zwick, a making-of documentary and a virtual depiction of a Civil War battlefield.

The Rock
Tracy Lawrence
CD ($14.98)
Once a honky-tonk hell-raiser, country hit-maker Tracy Lawrence now finds himself at a different place in his life, one reflected in the 10 heavenward-looking songs on his first inspirational album. Featuring original tunes like "Dear Lord," "Somebody Who Would Die For You" and "Say a Prayer," it fulfills a promise he made a long time ago to his parents to someday record a gospel album. But it also has the sound of a promise he must have made to himself—and an honest, heartfelt ring of spiritual conviction rather than a grab for the spotlight.

By John Wilcoxen
Hardcover, 369 pages ($26)
Most people know Lance Armstrong as a world-champion cyclist, or remember how quickly he was back on the bike after beating cancer. Wilcoxen, a top-notch sportswriter, paints a complete portrait of the world's most awarded bicycle racer, delving into areas that even Armstrong himself didn't cover in his two inspirational autobiographies and getting the superstar cyclist to open up about his broken-home childhood in Texas, his personal shortcomings and his romantic relationship with singer Sheryl Crow.
