Here’s the “crazy” thing: Jeff Bridges, who stars in this acclaimed new movie about a faded country singer, can really sing! The 16-tune soundtrack includes a tuneful mix of performances from the film, plus some primo honky-tonk jukebox classics from Buck Owens, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Townes Van Zandt and Waylon Jennings, and even a couple of credible vocal contributions from co-star Colin Ferrell.

But it fizzled at the box office because almost none of the cast was recognizable behind the heavy makeup and crazy costumes. Now available for the first time on DVD, it's a closet classic certainly worth checking out to see this ambitious, strange and now almost forgotten all-star misfire.
