I would like to nominate two local heroes, Don Kyle and Ladd Goesl. These two dedicated Scoutmasters carried  scouts to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N. M. in July 2007. While hiking on Mt. Baldy, which is, 12,000 feet above sea level, lightning struck one the scouts. Mr Gosel performed CPR on the scout and resuscitated him on the scene.  They then moved him down the mountain so he could be air lifted to a Santa Fe area hospital. The next day he was released from the hospital and went back to camp to resume activities. One of the other scouts received a Boy Scout of America award for assisting Mr. Goesl in the CPR performed on the injured scout. These two leaders are men of great courage and bravery and handled this serious situation in a profound manner.
