In 1978 the delapidated Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railroad Station was doomed to destruction. A group of hometown heroes came to the rescue and restoration was begun. Today they have created a 19th century historic Jefferson Depot Village and are restoring eleven (11) buildings,give guided tours, two festivals a year, offer field trips for 1890 school classes and authentic tours, plus offer free educational programs.
