Lincoln-Douglas Debate Weekend—Freeport, Aug. 29-Sept. 1.
Part of the state’s sesquicentennial celebration, this event features Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas re-enactors arriving on a steam train, plus a torch light parade, speeches and an ice cream social. (800) 369-2955.

World War II Days — Rockford, 9/27 - 9/28/08
