The above article was very fine and interesting. However, I suspect that the good town of Goodland, Kansas has copied a town in Altona, Manitoba, Canada. Altona has had a huge reproduction of van Gogh's famous sunflower painting on an equally huge easel for a number of years. Might the Canadian artist, Cameron Cross, also be the one who did the reproduction in Altona? Is that where Goodland, Kansas came up with the idea? I live about an hour from Altona, Manitoba, and would just appreciate that they would have been mentioned. I realize that copying can be the highest form of flatery, but still.....

Sincerely, Marcia Pederson
In Preston, Connecticut there is a farmer who raises fields of sunflowers to be cut and sold in bundles for the Make A Wish Foundation. He has raised over $100,000 since he began. There was an article about him in the Hartford Courant. He also owns the best ice cream store around. The sunflower is surely a source of happiness and health.
