I live in a small town in SouthWestern Pennsylvannia. I have alot of memories. But the one that stands out is
When I was about 6 Our little town had a big parade. It was in celbration of our new ballfield. The parade ended up at the new field. and thus
The Kieth Hixson Ballfield was dedicated. My older Brother was part of this
as he volunteered in the Lttle League program. beyond my belief
it took 3 firetrucks,a marching band, ambulances,a team of ball players
and many important folks to get this Dedication chore done.
They had a makeshift concession stand made of rough wood and Sadly painted.
extention cords ran from the stand to nearby homes to supply electricty to cook hot dogs and Burgers.and brew coffee.
Hot dogs were 15 cents Hamburgers 25 cents.
My Brother bribed me ,He told me if I was A good Girl He would buy me a pop and HotDog I waited all day .
At the end of the day I got A dried remains of a "DOG" and very warm "pop".
The stadium still stands It doesn't look so big now
and as for the concession Stand it has it's own electricity And Cold POP
There was never another parade in our town.
