The article did not state it but Biill Kurtis is a Washburn University Law School graduate. Although I did not know him at the time, I also graduated from the University of Kansas in 1962. I stared law school at Washburn in the spring of '66 and he was the first student I met. He was working part-time for the Topeka TV station. while in school. I was there on June 8, 1966 and watching TV. He probably saved my life because when he said "take cover" from the tornado; I did! My apartment near the university along with the law school were totally destroyed. That tornado ended Bill's law career because he was discovered by the CBS network that night and was offered a job in Chicago. I now live 50 miles North of Chicago but like Bill, I also have never forgotten my Kansas roots.Frank L. Johnson Racine,WI
