Elvis, Vince Edwards, Victoria Gotti, Jay Leno, Pauley Perrette
What's the name of the Elvis song that's played on the TV show Las Vegas? I think it may be "Satisfy Me." I also heard it on Everybody Loves Raymond.
Angela Henriquez, S. Lake Tahoe, Calif.
The song is a remixed dance version of "A Little Less Conversation," which repeats the phrase "satisfy me" at the end of each chorus. Presley originally recorded the song for his 1968 movie Live a Little, Love a Little. It's also been used for a Nike commercial, in the 2001 movie Ocean's Eleven and as Howard Dean's campaign song in his unsuccessful 2004 presidential run.
Whatever became of Vince Edwards, who starred in Ben Casey in the 1960s?
Susan Ganus, Warner Robbins, Ga.
Edwards, who set the standard for TV physicians with his portrayal of the confrontational, crusading Dr. Casey, died in 1996 of pancreatic cancer. While he worked consistently after Ben Casey ended in 1966, it was mainly in smaller TV and forgettable movie roles. He portrayed the good doctor again in a 1988 TV movie, The Return of Ben Casey.
What happened to Victoria Gotti's TV show? I miss it.
Irma Lazorwitz, Victorville, Calif.
The A&E Network pulled the plug in December on Growing Up Gotti, a reality show about the daughter of late organized-crime kingpin John Gotti and her family, because of a decline in ratings. Some viewers complained that the show glorified a lavish lifestyle built on mob money.
We watch The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and have been wondering why he doesn't wear his wedding band.
D. Butler, Woodsboro, Md.
When Leno married Mavis Nicholson 25 years ago, he was a struggling comedian barely making ends meet, and they were too poor to buy wedding rings. They remain happily married today, and he later presented her with a beautiful ring. But he has never worn one himself.
We're fans of the CBS hit NCIS. We particularly like Pauley Perrette, who plays Abby Sciuto, and how she sometimes puts her boss in his place. What can you tell us about her?
M. & A. Acoleo, Albuquerque, N.M.
Perrette got into acting almost by accident. As a college student working on her master's degree in criminal science in New York, she was bartending to make money when a music-video director saw her and thought she had on-camera potential. He began using her in videos and commercials, which led to other opportunities and eventually to Hollywood. "I had no connection to this business at all," says Perrette, 36, who's worked steadily as an actress for the past 10 years and loves her role on NCIS. "Abby and Gibbs [her character's boss] have a great relationship," she says. "I always think it feels familial." Perrette lives in Los Angeles.
