Unstuffed Cabbage

"This is my favorite cabbage recipe. I’d like to share it with all American Profile readers."

Recipe

  • 1 small cabbage
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup instant rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 10-ounce cans condensed tomato soup
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown turkey with onion. Stir in rice, salt and pepper. Finely chop cabbage and layer it in the bottom of a well-greased 9-by-13-inch pan. Spoon browned turkey mixture over cabbage. Mix soup and water and pour it evenly over the top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake for 90 minutes.

Tips From Our Test Kitchen: Substitute marinara sauce for tomato soup if you prefer a spicier dish.
