James Best, Grant Show, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Sharon Osbourne
Q Whatever happened to James Best, who played Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on the TV series The Dukes of Hazzard? I loved him and that hound dog, Flash, on the show!—Rae Stovall, Jacksonville, Fla.
An avid fisherman, Best, 83, recently moved near a good fishing hole in Hickory, N.C., with wife Dorothy and their beagle and two spaniels. He stays busy with productions for his Best Friend Films, for which he often writes, directs and performs. In his spare time, Best, a first cousin of music legends Don and Phil Everly (the Everly Brothers), makes frequent personal appearances and is a professional painter specializing in rural scenes. His recent autobiography, Best in Hollywood: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful, is available in stores and online, including at Best's own Dukes-filled website, jamesbest.com, which also features a gallery of his paintings.
Q I am a big fan of Grant Show, who played Jake on the original Melrose Place. Any chance he will pop up on the new Melrose Place?
—Scott Michaels, Bailey, Colo.
Show, 47, is busy with his new CBS sitcom, Accidentally on Purpose, and says he is enjoying being out of the "heavy soap world" of Melrose Place for now. But, he adds, "Overtures have been made. I hope it does happen, but if it does, it won't be in this first cycle. If something happens, it will probably be at the end of this season or maybe next season."
Q What is Jamie-Lynn Sigler doing now that The Sopranos is over?
—James Floyd, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
For the past two seasons, Sigler, 28, has played herself on the HBO hit series Entourage. In her storyline, she dated the character called Turtle, played by Jerry Ferrara, with whom she makes a real-life couple off-screen. In the season six finale of Entourage, Sigler dumped Turtle, so it remains to be seen if she will return to the show for season seven. Sigler has also been a guest star on TV's Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother and Saturday Night Live. As someone who suffered from an eating disorder, she crusades on behalf of the National Eating Disorders Association.
Q Sharon Osbourne is incredibly outspoken, which makes her fun to watch on TV. How are her kids, Kelly and Jack, doing?
—Jennessa Stewart, New Britain, Conn.
Of Kelly, 25, and Jack, 24, mommy-O says, "I am incredibly proud. They branched out from us. They have had such great experiences and unbelievable opportunities. My daughter has done everything from working in theater to her own radio show. My son has hosted his own TV show in Europe for five years and is doing great documentaries." Sharon, 57, and rocker husband Ozzy, 61, have a third child, Aimee, 26, who chose not to appear on the family's reality-TV show. Sharon will appear this spring on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.
