Q Is Jon Gosselin on TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 the same person who plays Miles on the TV series Lost? They look so much alike.—Judy Greenlee, North Ridgeville, Ohio
Gosselin, 32, is the real-life father of eight children on the TLC series. Actor Ken Leung, 39, plays Miles on Lost. Gosselin, who was born in Wyomissing, Pa., is of French, Irish and Korean descent, whereas Leung was born in New York City and is of Chinese descent. Leung also appeared in HBO's The Sopranos and in the films Shanghai Kiss and Rush Hour.
Q What has happened to the actor who played veterinarian Tristan Farnon on the British TV series All Creatures Great and Small, based on the books by James Herriot?
—Doris Williams, Holyoke, Mass.
Peter Davison, 58, moved on to many other British TV series, such as Doctor Who, Campion and At Home With the Braithwaites. His hit British series, The Last Detective, never broadcast in the U.S., has been released here on DVD and follows Detective "Dangerous" Davies, who always gets the cases no one else wants.
Q There was an beautiful actress of Indian heritage who played an accountant on the NBC series Las Vegas. Can you tell me her name and what she is doing now?
—R.J. Newman, Franklin, N.C.
Lakshmi Manchu was born in Hyderabad, India. Her father, Mohan Babu, has been in more than 500 films and created one of the largest production companies in India, Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, which he named after her. Instead of settling for a cushy life in India, Manchu came to the U.S. and successfully auditioned for guest roles on the TV series Desperate Housewives, Las Vegas and Boston Legal. Now back in India, she is the host of her own talk show. She also has a role in director-actor Corbin Bernsen's upcoming sci-fi movie Dead Air.
Q What can you tell me about Jami Gertz, the female lead on the TV series Still Standing? Was she once a guest on Seinfeld?
—Robert Dolin, Suison City, Calif.
Do you remember Seinfeld's girlfriend who claimed she sold office supplies but really worked as an adult-chatline operator? (She also refused to share any of her stall's toilet paper with Elaine in the ladies room.) That was Gertz. The Chicago-born actress, 43, began her career as a teen in the TV series Square Pegs in 1982. She has a long list of credits, including the films The Lost Boys, Quicksilver and Less Than Zero, as well as a stellar turn as the lead in the TV movie Gilda Radner: It's Always Something. In fact, her Judy Miller character in Still Standing was named after the memorable comedic character that Radner played on Saturday Night Live. Gertz lives in Los Angeles with her husband and three sons.
