Hugh Dillon, Chuck Woolery, Cheryl Burke, Christine McIntyre, Angela Hacker
Q Please tell us something about Hugh Dillon, who stars as Ed Lane in the TV series Flashpoint. Where is the series shot?
—Karen Kirkland, Oak Hills, Calif.
Dillon, 46, began his entertainment career in 1987 as the hard-living lead singer for the Canadian rock group The Headstones. It wasn't until 1995 that he added acting to his resume with the film Dance Me Outside. This was followed by Hard Core Logo, which caught the attention of director Quentin Tarantino, who distributed the film the following year. While shooting Flashpoint in Toronto, he was nominated for a Gemini Award (Canada's equivalent of an Emmy) for his work in the 2007 miniseries Durham County. Dillon, who is married and calls Los Angeles home, continues to make music with his new indie-rock band, The Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir.
Q How old is Chuck Woolery and what years did the various game shows air that he's hosted?
—C.J. Novotny, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Woolery, 68, has hosted Wheel of Fortune (1975-1981), Love Connection (1983-1994), Scrabble (1984-1990, 1993), The Home and Family Show (1996-1998), The Dating Game (1998-2000), Greed (1999-2000), TV Land's Ultimate Fan Search (2000), and Lingo (2002-2007). Last fall, he was host of Think Like a Cat on the Game Show Network. He lives outside of Austin, Texas, with his wife, Kim, is an avid outdoorsman and bass fisherman, and often can be found riding his motorcycle.
Q There is no way I can wear the costumes that Cheryl Burke wears on Dancing With the Stars. But the clothes she wears for rehearsals look like they'd be great for my own workouts. Any idea where I can get outfits like those?
—Maryanne Mays, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Burke, 25, has always been a fan of Fit Couture. Now she's teamed with the company to create her own signature line of nine items, including workout pants, warm-up jackets and tops. "Comfort is so important to me when I am active," she says. "I like to wear pieces that move with my body and are flattering to my body type. I've always wanted to start my own clothing line." You can find Burke's clothing online at www.fitcouture.com.
Q What can you tell me about Christine McIntyre from the Three Stooges shorts?
—Randy DeBiasio, Jeannette, Pa.
The Stooges' co-star in dozens of slapstick comedy "shorts" between 1945 and 1950, McIntyre was born in Arizona and studied classical music in Chicago before heading to Hollywood and landing an acting contract with Columbia Studios. After a string of appearances in Westerns and low-budget comedies, she became part of the Stooges' small cast of regulars and the female most frequently associated with their harebrained antics. She retired from show business and went into real estate with her husband in the mid-1950s before dying in 1984 at the age of 73.
Q What's next for Nashville Star's 2007 winner, Angela Hacker?
—Gary Davis, Sterling, Ill.
Hacker, 31, recently finished an album called Don't Waste Your Pretty, which is scheduled for release later this year. "The record is mostly songs I didn't write, which is not something I normally would do," she explains. "But I was so busy in '07 that I didn't have much chance to write. I did co-write 'These Walls,' which was a very personal song. I'm trying to show people that there's more to me than just one thing." Hacker lives in Tuscumbia, Ala., with her boyfriend, singer-songwriter James LeBlanc.
