Q Bobbie Eakes is my favorite soap actress. Did she get her start on The Bold and the Beautiful?—Wanda Ellis, Babbs, Okla.
Not quite. The Bold and the Beautiful marked the first recurring role for Eakes, but prior to that she appeared as a guest star in numerous prime-time shows, including Matlock, Cheers, Falcon Crest and The Wonder Years. The former Miss Georgia 1982 later went on to star in One Life to Live and All My Children, on which she has portrayed the character of Krystal Chandler since 2003.
Q I am a big fan of the late actor Peter Boyle from Everybody Loves Raymond. I know he did a lot of movies and TV shows. Did he ever win any awards? And was he married?
—Maria Hasselhoff, De Soto, Texas
Boyle, who died in December 2006 at the age of 71, received only one major award, an Emmy in 1996 for a guest role on TV’s The X-Files, during his long acting career. He met his wife, Loraine, when she came as a Rolling Stone reporter to interview him on the movie set of the comedy Young Frankenstein—in which he memorably played the misunderstood monster—in 1974. You can see Boyle in his final role, which he completed shortly before his death, when the family film All Roads Lead Home is released on DVD this month.
Q What is Ordinary People actor Timothy Hutton doing these days? I heard he owns a restaurant in New York.
—Daniel Wynn, Watertown, N.Y.
The Academy Award-winning actor is the star of a new TNT series, Leverage, about a team of modern-day Robin Hoods avenging victims of those who misuse their power and wealth. He also has several movies in the works, including The Alphabet Killer and Lymelife. Showbiz isn’t the only career for Hutton, 48, who also is a co-owner of Manhattan’s P.J. Clarke restaurant. He’s married to Aurore Giscard d’Estaing, with whom he has a son. He’s the father of another son with ex-wife Debra Winger.
