Q I enjoyed the TV series Shark very much. Please tell me if James Woods has any movies or other TV projects in the works.—Kathleen Unti, Grosse Point Shores, Mich.
Woods, 60, found plenty of time to pursue other projects when CBS pulled the plug on Shark in May. He’s had several offers for movies, but nothing to annouce yet, and he’s writing a screenplay. His role as the hard-charging public prosecutor on Shark, which marked his first television series lead, will always be close to his heart. “I chose this job for no other reason than it was the best thing I’ve read in 10 years, period,” says the actor, whose movie and TV roles have numbered more than 100 since his acting debut in 1971.
Q I’ve always adored singer Janis Ian. What’s she doing?
—Randy Glass, Ithaca, N.Y.
The “At Seventeen” folk singer, 57, is on the road this summer with Hippiefest, where she’ll join Badfinger, The Turtles and other acts for some of the dates on the third annual mobile classic-rock festival. And she’s gearing up to promote the July 24 release of her autobiography, Society’s Child, titled after her debut hit single from 1967. “I don’t really know the world of book festivals,” admits Ian, who lives in Nashville, Tenn. “But I must admit, the thought of traveling somewhere without having to lug three cases of musical gear is tempting!”
