Q My family’s favorite band was always 3 Dog Night. What is lead singer Chuck Negron doing these days?—J. Weaver, Seymour, Ind.
Negron, 65, continues to perform concerts and sing 3 Dog Night hits such as “One,” “Eli’s Coming,” “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)” and “Joy To the World,” plus some of his own later solo work. “I am very proud to have been a part of 3 Dog Night and all that music. It’s a part of the American landscape,” says Negron, who went solo in 1977 after the band had run its course. The father of four says his voice has improved with age. “I’ve even gained half an octave; I now have a four-and-a-half-octave range.”
Q What can you tell me about the beautiful Nia Peeples, who used to star on Walker, Texas Ranger?
—F.L. Medrano, Needles, Calif.
Peeples, 45, now stars as Karen Taylor on TV’s The Young and the Restless. She also voiced one of the characters in the 2005 animated film Firedog, which featured her singing on the soundtrack. Peeples is of Filipino, German and Spanish descent on her mother’s side, and Italian, Irish, Scottish and American Indian on her father’s. She resides in Southern California with her husband and two children.
Q Whatever happened to Tony Danza? We watched his show every morning, then, all at once, no Tony.
—Joanne Waters, Chickasha, Okla.
As most viewers of The Tony Danza Show know, actor and host Danza, 56, also is a song-and-dance man. When his daytime show was canceled in May 2006, he signed on for a stint as Max Bialystock in the musical The Producers on Broadway. He enjoyed the role so much that he agreed to reprise it at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, where’s he expected to remain through the end of the year. He splits his off time between homes in New York and Los Angeles. “I feel like life has changed a little bit in the last couple of years, and now I am looking at it a little differently,” he says.
