Q Where does actress Kirsten Vangsness of Criminal Minds get all those great glasses she wears on the show?—Nona Rhoads, Portales, N.M.
“I get all my glasses at LensCrafters,” Vangsness, 30, tells American Profile. “A black pair is Brooks Brothers, an amber pair is Versace, and I forget what the red pair is. Before Criminal Minds, I was always a one-pair kind of girl. But Garcia (her character on the CBS-TV series) needs them to color-coordinate with her outfit creations, so I currently have three pairs—and I have my eye on a few more!”
Q Does Bruce Willis have any plans for another Die Hard movie? And does he ever get injured in any of those action sequences?
—J. Young, Mankato, Minn.
The fourth installment of Willis’ successful action-adventure franchise, Live Free or Die Hard, opens June 27. Based on a 1997 magazine article about the threat of Internet terrorism, the movie stars Willis once again as tightly wound New York cop John McClane, this time fighting a treacherous cyber-villain who targets the United States—and makes the additional mistake of bringing McClane’s daughter along for the ride. Although stunt doubles perform most of the high-risk maneuvers you’ll see on the screen, Willis was accidentally kicked above his right eye during a fight scene, and filming was suspended until he could be treated.
Q Jenny Craig spokeswoman Kirstie Alley is a very lovely lady, and I always enjoyed her on Cheers. Did she ever make any movies, is she married and does she have any children?
—H.G. Stone, Golden Valley, Ariz.
The Kansas-born former high school cheerleader, 56, made her acting debut in the movie Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan in 1982, five years before landing the role of Rebecca Howe on Cheers. Alley also starred in three Look Who’s Talking movies with John Travolta and in two other TV series, Veronica’s Closet and Fat Actress, which put a comical spin on her well-known struggles with being overweight. Divorced from actor Parker Steven
Q Your May 20 story on John Wayne’s birthplace says he was born Marion Robert Morrison. I always thought his real birth name was Marion William Morrison, and that Robert was his younger brother.
—Janice Weatherford, Eureka, Kan.
We heard from several readers who were confused about John Wayne’s real name. “The Duke” was born Marion Robert Morrison in 1907, but his parents changed his middle name to William four years later when they wanted to name his younger brother Robert.
