LOS ANGELES-"I got a great idea when I heard my wife lament over having to toss six, amber-colored plastic pill bottles in the trash," said Lovelace Lee III president of the marketing consulting firm Robert Lucy Creative. "We hate to waste anything and I immediately thought that Rebecca could do something wonderful with them," he said. Robert Lucy Creative encourages clients to recycle whenever possible. The "Rebecca" Lee referred to is new client and interior-jewelry-fashion designer Rebecca Hart Benton of Chicago.

Starting January 2010 Lee's firm is launching the "Rebecca Hart Benton Beautiful ReDo Jewelry Challenge." Robert Lucy Creative is inviting Facebookers from all over the globe to try to stump Benton with a recyclable material-betting that she can't turn anything into one or more pieces of fashionable jewelry. Lee will start the party by challenging Benton to make jewelry from the six, plastic pill bottles he proudly saved from a landfill.

The rules of the "Rebecca Hart Benton Beautiful ReDo Jewelry Challenge" are simple. Members of an online community who want to participate will email Lee a digital photo of the material that they wish to submit with a description to robertlucycreative@yahoo.com. Be sure to place "ReDo Jewelry Challenge" on the subject line. Each submission must include the full name and a contact phone number of the sender. Once chosen, the submitting individual will be notified where to mail the material to Benton in Chicago. The artist will have just one month from the time the material is received to create one or more pieces of fashionable jewelry.

For their contribution, those who submit one of the 12 (one for every month of the year) selected materials will receive an original sketch of Benton's idea for the recycled jewelry, a thank you card and photo of the completed jewelry made from their submission. If they do manage to stump the artist they get an "I stumped Rebecca Hart Benton" t-shirt. "Stumping Rebecca just ain't gonna happen. She's lives to design and knowing that this jewelry is to benefit women who need a inspiration will motivate her to create pure jewelry greatness," said Lee. "You've never seen an artist more dedicated to helping people."

Let's have a clean, fun and safe challenge. Please don't submit toxic materials, trademarks, icky stuff or insects. "There's no need to overwhelm Rebecca," Lee said. Whatever you send should fit inside a regular 9" X 12" envelope. She needs just enough to make a dozen pieces of jewelry from each material. Play nice and help us help others. All of the jewelry created during the yearlong "Rebecca Hart Benton Beautiful ReDo Jewelry Challenge" will be donated to shelters, halfway houses and other facilities that support a new start for women located around the country.

"I create jewelry to help women feel beautiful," said Benton. She sincerely believes that all women have a right to feel beautiful and hopes that the "Rebecca Hart Benton Beautiful ReDo Jewelry Challenge" can help a few women in America.

FYI: Rebecca Hart Benton is a Chicago-based interior-jewelry-fashion designer. She can speak confidently about the importance of recycling, building the self-esteem of America's women and jewelry-making.
