A son who cannot say no

After receiving a phone call from an elderly lady who lives just a few blocks from my son's place of employment just north of Boston, during New Year's Day dinner my son began telling us a story that took place just before Christmas. He was on his way to work when an elderly lady flagged him down and asked him to clean the snow off the top of her car. He say sure and was happy to help her. She asked him to dig her car out of the snow and handed him a plastic shovel. The shovel would not break through the ice so she suggested that he drive down to the gas station and purchase a better shovel, he said he was happy to help and returned with a better shovel to dig through the ice and snow. She said she wanted to put the car in the garage but the drive needed to be shovelled out so he cleaned her driveway. That's when he got a call from his boss who wanted to know why he was late. He told him that he was helping a little lady out with the snow, etc. He boss said yea, sure, sure. Of course, he did not believe him. A friend from work drove by and waved at Paul while he was shovelling the snow. The last request from the lady was that her front door was frozen shut and would he thaw out the door jamb. She also managed to get his phone number hence, the reason for the phone call during New Year's Day dinner, she was snowed in again and needed his help. He was in Ohio with me.
