I am writing to tell you about our neighbor, Ken Jordan, who has taken it upon himself, since moving to our neighborhood, to plow the driveways of all of our houses, without ever knowing any of us or ever being asked. We live in a rural area, so most of us have several acres and our houses mostly sit far back from the road. Our driveway is approximately 250 feet long. We've lived out here for 20 years and we're both older, so with each passing year, it's gotten harder and harder for us to clear our driveway whenever we've had anything past a moderate snowfall. There used to be a farmer who lived down the road from us who used to farm part of our land, and one year we even asked about paying him to clear our drive, and were informed that he didn't do that sort of thing. So we bought a Jeep and basically would just run it up and down the drive in hopes of making some tracks pronounced enough to allow us to get our car in and out, and that's about all we could do, since it was just too hard to shovel it by hand and we don't have any big equipment to use for that purpose. I can't remember what year the Jordans moved in, but the first year they were here, I awoke to hear the sound of a tractor in our drive. I looked out and saw a man plowing out our drive. I went out to thank him, thinking it was probably someone we knew, because I couldn't fathom a total stranger doing something like this for us. I found that I didn't recognize him at all. He told me who he was and I asked if I could give him a hug, because he had no idea what a wonderful favor this was to us. He refused to take payment for it and I saw that he did the same for all of the houses within my view on both sides of the road. He has continued to do this every year that he's lived here, and we try to do small things to thank him, but we could never do anything big enough to express our true appreciation for this act of kindness on his part. We are so thankful to have such a kind person living here in our neighborhood, and hope that he and his family remain here forever, they're such wonderful people. Words just cannot express how thankful we are to him.
